Blog 0039  At Sea, en route for Darwin – second of two days from Bali

Day 49 of 102. and the first few hours of Day 50

Outside, the sea appears rough, with numerous bits of white froth as far as the eye can see. It’s 11.25, and I have yet to venture outside. But, I’m assured it is pretty wet out there. Queen Mary 2 remains stable, even on the higher decks.  It did rain, as evidenced by the puddles remaining outside. But by the time I was outside, the rain had stopped, and with difficulty, continued my walking challenge.  The humidity could be overwhelming.  Jo caught up with me for lunch in the Kings Court Buffet.

I calculate late that I am 111,015 steps ahead of schedule in my charity efforts for Christian Aid to achieve 1 million steps by the end of the cruise.  If I manage 9,000 today, that brings my total past 600,000 by the end of Day 49 of 102 – not even halfway through this voyage.

600,000 steps (and still counting) in 49 days.

1/3/23. 14.40 hrs Kings Court.

Another mile post passed… yesterday!

Jo had booked the long trip to Litchfield, and me, the shorter trip to watch “jumping crocodiles.” I needed the later start and earlier finish to give me time to relax and also prepare for the small birthday dinner I am giving tonight. By rights, being in Australia, 9.5 hours ahead of UK time, I should be celebrating tomorrow; I was born at 20.10 hrs on March 1st, or 05.40 (I think) NT time in Australia, the next morning! Neil Kelly, amongst numerous other on-board birthdays on 29th February and 1st March, did pronounce my name correctly during his daily broadcast on Channel 24.

I have already started Blog 40. I shall, therefore, round this off and continue writing for March 1st. Many thanks for reading, David, Kings Court Buffet, 14 55 hrs. GMT + 9.5.
