Day 56 of 102
This is beautiful and relaxing. Really, I should be racking up the walking. Right now, I am in QM2’s sumptuous library, having had my e-mails page re-booted yet again. For some reason, the “sync” on my app switches off, and I am then unable to send or receive e-mails. It is a complicated procedure to switch the “sync” back on again, but I now know of two receptionists who manage to help me out.
It is still very warm, but a cool breeze from the South makes one side of the ship the place to escape the heat, that is, if one wants to. The deckwalkers are out in force (11.48 hrs). The sea is wonderfully calm, and apparently, we dock at a brand new cruise terminal in Brisbane at 7 am. tomorrow. My intention is to try to locate the railway museum at Ipswich, which I have heard quite a lot about in the past. Failing that, a small river trip might be a good option if available.

17.43 hrs. All day has been beautiful apart from perhaps one shower earlier on. One can just perceive the hills behind Queensland’s coast as we steam ever closer to Brisbane.
I have read mixed reviews of the Railway Museum at Ipswich, some five-star, none very bad, except that it’s maybe aimed at children, which of course is not a bad thing. I do hope I find my way there tomorrow. This is another of those “I’ll never pass this way again” opportunities.
Jo suggested a movie tonight, “Death on the Nile” (2022). This meant an early dinner in the Kings Court Buffet.
Continued the next day in the Café at Ipswich Works and Railway Museum
The one thing I like, particularly on Queen Mary 2, is the cavernous Illuminations cinema, forward, accessed on Decks 2 and 3. Death on the Nile was a most enjoyable with Kenneth Brannagh playing a very convincing Hercule Poirot. One forgets one is on board ship when the lights go down. We adjourned to the Royal Court Theatre in time for the evening’s show, after which, because we had eaten early, I had a small plate of something warm at the midnight buffet. I walked an extra lap of the Promenade Deck before going to bed.
Many thanks for reading, David
