Blog 0049 Final Sea Day, en route for Sydney.

Day 59 of 102

Beautiful days like this are rare. A still sea to begin with, gloriously blue with colour coded sky, a welcome breeze, and fabulous hot sunshine, rounded off with dolphins leaping about all around the ship.  In the evening, a party in the Queens Room with tribute quartet, The Vallies, from Sydney.  Their backing group was, in fact, a cleverly put-together backing track (I think).  The party went well, but the sound system had definite malfunctions, which seemed eventually to be lost on the huge crowd who enjoyed the evening immensely.  We had an early dinner so as to be able to take in the show as well as the party. Tonight’s show in the Royal Court Theatre comprised of a young married couple who had perfected various super-human sketches, including very sophisticated and impossibly highly skilled juggling, even, on a unicycle. I can not imagine the hours of daily practice and rehearsals required for such a finely tuned show.

Jo and I parted company at the end of the evening after a hot drink. She has a very early start tomorrow morning. I may be awake for the arrival at Sydney as the sun rises. I don’t intend to be. My preparations for making my own way to Fremantle need to be put into place. I can’t believe I shall be doing my own thing the day after tomorrow.

Crowds gathered aft on Deck 6 admire the numerous dolphins leaping out of the water.
Tonight’s party in the Queens Room.
