Day 77 of 102. Tue. 28th March

Last night, at the very end of the day, after dinner, the music trivia quiz, and the show in the Royal Court Theatre,

I went out on deck, still dressed in a jacket and tie, which I had decided to wear for the evening.  The jacket and tie had to come off if I wanted to walk around the Promenade Deck. The night air was very warm. But much of the Promenade Deck was cordoned off for washing.  I could justify the late(ish) night as we would be gaining yet another hour as we continued west and slightly northwards to Port Louis.

This morning’s Current Position.

The hot weather continues, and the Indian Ocean remains gentle, even if Queen Mary 2 is swaying a little bit.  It will be hot in Mauritius tomorrow, where I am meeting Alan from St. John’s Buxton, as well as living in Mauritius.

I joined Jo in Illuminations for an informative and fascinating talk on the life and times of Frank Sinatra, after which I attempted some walking.  It had felt a little cooler this afternoon, but I still felt reluctant to get going.  I got into conversation with a couple I have been acquainted with for most of the voyage.  That caused me to forget my hair appointment at 4pm – yep, I completely forgot!  They are squeezing me in at 6.30 tonight.

Thankfully, I was there in good time for my revised hair appointment.  The evening was fairly routine, dinner in the Britannia Restaurant, followed by the 10.15 show in the Royal Court Theatre.  By that time, I had difficulty keeping my eyes open, but I’m not aware that I fell asleep during the show.

Before retiring for the night, I acquired some U.S. currency, which I was assured that it  would be accepted in Mauritius.  The taxi accepted U.S. dollars for what would be a short taxi trip from the port to the Victoria Metro station, where the next day’s adventure would begin.

Many thanks for reading, David, the following evening over dinner.
