Day 82 of 102
Being Palm Sunday, I attended a well filled Interdemoninational church service in the Royal Court Theatre, this time after breakfast. That it was Palm Sunday was mentioned at the start of what was otherwise an ordinary routine service, albeit beautifully conducted with appropriate dignity. I assume the readings were those appointed for the day; I didn’t check!
The third of three sea days between La Reunion and Durban draws to a close. My energy levels seem restored, and today, I climbed from Deck 2 to 14 as part of my walking regime. If my calculations are correct, including circumnavigating Decks 12, 13 and 14 four and a half times, that’s around 429 stairs climbed.
It has been another beautiful day, which made me thankful I was not at home, even if I have experienced pangs of homesickness.
Dave Mallinder delivered the final in his series of lectures charting the life and times of various world-renowned entertainers. He is a superb presenter and first-rate speaker who can deliver a huge wealth of information in the allotted 45 minutes. I don’t think there was a vacant seat in his final lecture charting what happened to all four Beatles after their untimely break-up. He will be presiding over a 50s to 90s music trivia quiz tonight at 9 o’clock in the Golden Lion Pub on Deck 2. I plan to be there, and I chose to dine alone in the Kings Court Buffet so that I could enjoy my evening meal at my own pace.
As the sun went down, I took a few pictures in the hopes that maybe one would be worthy of entering in the Cunard photo competition.

It was a good sunset tonight. And the not yet full moon would shine in a pristine dark sky, not too long afterwards.

The evening continued as planned, with Dave Mallinder’s music trivia quiz in the Golden Lion Pub. Thankfully, I did not disgrace myself, and our team scored a respectable 25 points out of a possible 40. Finally, I got to see The Four Harps in the Royal Court Theatre, following a tribute to Dream Girls sung and danced by the Royal Court Singers and Dancers. It was short but spectacular.

Tomorrow, we dock at Durban, second only in size to Johannesburg and Cape Town. I have chosen a Cunard Shore Experience to the Tala Game Reserve, which makes for a nice afternoon away from the ship.
Many thanks for reading, David, 23.24 hrs 2/3/23.
