STEAM TRAIN SPECIAL from PRESTON to BUXTON, 29th October 2023.
Steam returns to Buxton. Disguised as long since scrapped Silver Jubilee Class No. 45627, “Sierra Leone” 45699 “Galatea” stands at Buxton, having brought in a special railtour from Preston at the end of October 2023. For some time, recently, this locomotive had run as 45562 “Alberta,” whose number remains on the cabside. I saw the real 45562 on a railtour in 1967.The steam special having just arrived at Buxton. The damage could have been far worse.
