Blog 120 At Sea, en route for Cobh (formerly Queenstown), Republic of Ireland.

I wonder if we shall dock at the Cruise Terminal I saw being opened by the Taoiseach,  Charles Haughey in July 1990 as part of the Cunard 150 celebrations.

QE2 was the ship that visited ports with historic connections with Cunard dating back to the 19th century.

By the end of this voyage, on Friday, we shall have called at three of those ports visited in 1990, Greenock, Liverpool, and Cobh (pronounced Cove)

Today was a welcome sea day after yesterday’s exciting and historic activities.  Writing yesterday’s Blog (119) today was very time-consuming, and I sat in the Tramonto Restaurant from breakfast to making my way to the Britannia Restaurant for waiter-served lunch.  It was hard motivating myself to walk.  Nevertheless, late in the day, I managed around 7 laps of the Promenade Deck, equivalent to just under three miles, or the distance between Parsley Hay and Newhaven Tunnel in Derbyshire.  My day won’t be entirely wasted tomorrow; I have booked a four hour (with breaks) Countryside and Kinsale shore experience for 1.15 pm.  This means I can do some serious packing in the morning.

Afternoon Tea with a view
Stage set for tonight’s entertainment, “Pride and Prejudice (sort of).
Occasional is an understatement!
The cast of Pride and Prejudice (sort of) take a bow.

I increased my walking to a reasonable level of over 10 000 steps before changing for a special formal Naming Ceremony Dinner with a souvenir menu to take home.

Ye Gods! It’s gone 1 am!

Many thanks for reading,
