Written Saturday 3rd August.
I wasn’t expecting to feel quite so rejuvenated and lively when I awoke yesterday morning. It’s rare for breakfast to be part of the deal, especially at big corporate luxury hotels. My room, 481, offered obscured but an interesting view towards the main road on which it situated. As I write about yesterday today, I wonder if I will return one more time. Sadly, it’s unlikely.

It was good not to spend the day recovering from the flight from London, which I was expecting to do. The Hotel Concierge recommended spending the short time available exploring the capital using a day long pass. Good photographs from a Washington trolley are not easy to take. Yesterday, it was hot and humid, and walking was nothing like as practical as in 2022 when I walked over 2 miles in each direction for a covid check-up!
As I mentioned, I travelled two complete circuits, and strangely, they were far from identical. Some “stories” were repeated, but I still felt better informed the second time around.

Still feeling “enthused,” I opted to go on the evening tour entitled Monuments by Moonlight. I’m not sure of the state of the moon, but I enjoyed a similar trip two years ago.

Eventually, after around two and a half hours, we were dropping off people back at Union Station. I was almost tempted to get off also, bur even so late at night, it was still really rather warm. The trolley dropped me off right outside my hotel. The next day, I would be venturing elsewhere.
