The Captain announced earlier this morning that already it was 27°C Bring it on!!

I was up early enough to enjoy breakfast in the main restaurant at a table offering a view of the Hebridean Sky anchored behind M.S C.’s Magnifica alongside Queen Victoria.

For some reason, I kept finding things I thought I needed to do before exploring St. George’s. I’ve been here before and it really is a nice place.

I really should have left the ship this morning. Wet weather seems to have set in for the day. I had planned on taking a short boat trip as well as looking round the town.

All was not lost. The tropical rains of the forenoon, which did look set to last all day had all but subsided when eventually. I ventured off the ship. I ambled through the terminal shops and added a couple of fridges magnets to my collection. Eventually, I came out onto a busy, noisy and colourful main street.
I explored a little on foot, turning down offers of taxi tours. However, I was sweet-talked into a water taxi trip which I thoroughly enjoyed. There was no nasty shock when it came to settling at the end. I had the boat to myself for maybe 90 minutes.

Boarding the little speed boat did remain challenging, but the two man crew made sure I was fine. Normally the taxi runs from the pier to the beach. I was taken on generous tour to the marina, the industrial area and eventually in sight of several beaches, as close to the shoreine as possible. There was plenty of opportunity to photograph both Queen Victoria and Magnifica berthed alongside each other, particularlyon the return trip. I would like to think that the local economy benefits from the stream of cruise ships that call fairly frequently at this time of year.

I wish that I could have explored more of or revisited parts of the island which remains its usual exuberant self.
Leaving was such sweet sorrow as we headed for our next port of call Kingstown St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
A small two piece band played aft on Deck 9 and numerous souls milled around silhouetted against a setting sun

The night had to end sometime..
Many thanks for reading, David 23.30 hrs in bed!
