Once again I’m reluctant to stray from the comforts of being board. Nevertheless, my coming this way again is highly unlikely. But I think it’s souvenir buying time again. Let’s take a wander. 11.17 hrs 22/1/26. Ah! It’s raining again. Time for a quick coffee. (Actually, I didn’t bother). It’s quite a trek from the ship’s gangway to the dock gates. Cunard must have listened. A much needed shuttle bus was laid on to provide a regular service.

Even so, walking right into town was challenging due to a magnificent 30°C. I found a noisy eatery offering interrupted views of two new ships in today. Carnival Conquest and Majestic Princess, making a total of three in on two consecutive days.

No shuttle bus was waiting at the port gate for a much needed return trip. It was probably the hottest day so far and I hadn’t slept well. Energy and motivation were in short supply.

More history of the Fairwinds would be welcome. On arrival at the gangway, I took a swig of lemon flavored water and availed myself of a nearby seat before eventually re-boarding Queen Victoria. I took the elevator to Deck 9 with the intention of sunbathing. For whatever reason, that didn’t happen. I decided to take a small afternoon tea in the Queens Room where I was joined by Lyn and eventually Linda, both from near the New Forest. I relaxed alone there for a further hour before venturing to the aft of Deck 9 for the sail away party and a magnificent sundrenched departure from Oranjestad. Majestic Princess had already set sail. Carnival Conquest remained berthed and made a splendid sight as the sun reflected from its superstructure.

There was a decent but unremarkable sunset around 6.30 tonight.
I finish this blog with a few images.

Many thanks for reading, David, Deck 10 midships, starboard. 18.57 hrs. See picture below

Postscript: I did enjoy dinner tonight. The ventriloquist who entertained at Show Time was extraordinarily clever and versatile as well as funny, even if a bit risqué. Back on Deck 9 aft, dancing to a live band reminded me of a perhaps misspent youth!
