I remain impressed with Queen Mary 2. It has stood the test of time extremely well, and still after 22 years and 7 months, she does not feel or look her age.   QM2 remains pleasing to the eye either from a distance or close up.  I have travelled on her as a destination, and as a transatlantic “commute” as part of various extensive tours.  Flying to North America is ok, but flying home in other than Business or First Class spoils the adventure you have just enjoyed.  The jet lag takes forever to fade. 

I enjoyed my final meal in the uppermost section starboard side of the Britannia Restaurant, looked in at the Chart Room and Queens Room where the Amethyst duo were filling the dance floor with back-to-back chart hits.

I enjoyed meeting Tim and Karen at lunch two days ago.  We met a couple of times later over drinks in the Commodore Club and elsewhere.  It would be really good to keep in touch.  Although travelling solo, and opting for anytime dining where sharing a table was rare, I was pleasantly surprised at the number of people I became acquainted with during the three weeks.  Some will be returning for the voyage to Norway, Iceland, and New York in 17 days’ time. So, this really isn’t farewell, but it will be towards the end of August when sixteen months will elapse before my next voyage on a majorly refitted QM2.
