Steps 7,815
11.00hrs
It’s still misty out there and we are now three hours behind U.K. time. After last night’s show, all seemed quieter around much of the ship. Amethyst were playing in the Golden Lion and I stayed for a couple of numbers before returning to my stateroom.
This morning, I’m still slightly fragile and for the first time, just had a bagel and four small croissants for breakfast before attending Linda Sage’s Insights Lecture, “Kids who Kill.” I assume that I shall feel better tomorrow and will do some serious ship walking to hopefully create an account of what is worth seeing in terms of artwork and sculptures. There’s a Captain’s reception this afternoon in the Queens Room for all Cunard World Club members. 619 such guests of all Loyalty Levels attended this afternoon. I’m not sure when these occasions were first introduced, but I have yet to go to one that I actually enjoy. Some are better than others! Today’s turned out ok.

Captain Connery should have been officiating today. However, substantial sea fog necessitated constant attention on the Bridge including every two minutes, a blast on the ship’s siren. I took videos both on the upper decks and below on Deck 7. Looking out to sea, all one could perceive was a white mist and a bit if grey sea looking down.

I have started my quest to document (photograph) on board works of art in an effort to produce some kind of guide to items of interest on Queen Mary 2.
This afternoon, I came across my Canadian table companions enjoying a drink (or two) in the Champagne Bar. We talked until it was time for dinner. A glorious sunset occurred visible through the starboard side lower deck windows of Britannia Restaurant. I left the table to take a photograph outside on Deck 7

I was back in my seat well before the first course appeared. I’m almost back to normal eating and was able to enjoy dinner. Janet and Frank celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary. Somebody arranged for a choir of waiters to serenade them with Let Me Call You Sweetheart, much to the delight of everybody in the lower Britannia Restaurant, who applauded loudly with cheers!

We all went to Showtime in the Royal Court Theatre, which tonight were Brits Abroad.

Three very good singers belted out popular songs from British artistes, all three with tremendous voice.
07.35 the next day (Sunday 16/8/26) or so I thought!
The seven (that’s what I counted) piece Royal Court Theatre Orchestra are incredibly talented and, albeit a bit loud at times, can play anything they turn their hand to, with remarkable perfection.
I thought that the clocks went back a further hour at 2.am, but not according to the Navigational Information on Channel 45! Unless I’m mistaken, it’s 07.44 right now. And yes, I was mistaken! It’s 08.44hrs.

So was Father Michael, one of our table companions who was celebrating Mass this morning in Illuminations at 08.30. He, too, was late having made the same error, and also Janet and Frank who had arrived just moments before me in Illuminations, confused that the Mass had already started. Thus I was far too late for the mainstream Sunday worship in the Royal Court Theatre, believing it only to be 9.10 am!

This is still the earliest I will have got out of bed on this voyage.
Many thanks for reading,
David 07.50 hrs in his stateroom. 16/8/26. My mistake 08.50 hrs!
Note. This blog may be a little confusing towards the end. I was far from on my own believing that we should adjust our time pieces back one hour overnight. Thus I was late for the Catholic Mass which itself started late for the same reason.
Blog revised to the best of my ability: 12.51, ship’s time. Revised again 13.14hrs.
